JUDITH G. RABKIN, PH.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Rabkin is Professor of Clinical Psychology in Psychiatry, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, and also Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from NYU, and her MPH in epidemiology at the Columbia (now Mailman) School of Public Health. For the past 14 years she has conducted research on the treatment of depression and related problems among medically ill patients, and has conducted studies of the prevalence of psychiatric disorders in medically ill patients, including those with HIV/AIDS and ALS. She has received continuous federal funding for this work for the past 12 years as well as grants from other sources.
Currently, she is a co-investigator with Dr. Steven Albert and Ms. Maura Del Bene in a longitudinal study of coping and adjustment among ALS patients who meet criteria for hospice eligibility. In this study, her focus is on level of adjustment and distress of both the patient and family caregiver and changes over time.
